JoPo Book Club: The Small and the Mighty by Sharon McMahon
Join us for a 6-week discussion of The Small and the Mighty: Twelve Unsung Americans Who Changed the Course of History, from the Founding to the Civil Rights Movement by Sharon McMahon. From the government teacher who has inspired a generation of history lovers, a heartfelt, meticulously researched portrait of twelve ordinary Americans whose little-known stories define our national character.
Each week we will read and discuss a section of the book on a live Zoom meeting, and all members of the book club will receive replays of each week's discussion in case they can't make it live. Participation in this book club is completely FREE (donations to help cover costs are welcome but not expected!), but you must REGISTER to receive the links and replays to the Zoom sessions.
The sessions are tentatively planned for the following dates at 7:00 pm PDT (subject to change):
Introduction & Angel of the Rockies: Wednesday, October 2
The Next Needed Thing & America the Beautiful: Wednesday, October 9
Forward Out of Darkness: Wednesday, October 16
*No meeting Wednesday, October 23*
An Orientation of the Spirit: Wednesday, October 30
Go for Broke: Wednesday, November 6
Momentum: Wednesday, November 13
***Book club membership does not include a copy of or access to the book. Feel free to purchase the book, ebook, or audiobook anywhere you choose to (supporting a local independent bookstore is always a great idea!), or you can check it out from the library if that is your preference.***
